Before we talk about the different processors of the current generations of iPads, let’s talk about some features that all processors have and that make all the difference from one model to another.

• • The RAM memory is used to run applications and software connected to the Internet, whether mobile data (3G or 4G) or broadband internet (Wi-Fi). The RAM memory is reset to zero each time the device is turned off.
  • The speed in GHz is used to measure the internal clock, that is, the number of pulses per second that a signal emits during processing. Frequency is only a speed parameter if we compare processors on the same line.
  • The cores function as independent processors. IPad models feature two (dual-core) to eight cores (octa-core). The greater the number of cores, the better the device’s performance.
  • The cache memory is a data storage space of the processor itself, usually has about 8MB. The cache memory records data that is accessed very frequently, so you can start it quickly.
  • The number of bits has a great influence on the performance of a device, and the more internal bits the processor has, the faster it will process the data. In the case of iPads, they are 64 bits (the maximum).

 

The iPad has different prices, according to the model and generation. Currently, the Mini 4 model is costing around R $ 3,200 (128 GB version), the conventional iPad is cheaper, with a price around R $ 2,000.

The Pro line models are more expensive: the version with a 10.5 inch screen and 64 GB memory costs around R $ 6,100. The 11-inch model with 512 GB costs around R $ 11 thousand. The 12.9-inch version costs R $ 8,400 (64 GB) or above R $ 15 thousand if it is the 1 TB version.

The accessories also have a very high price. The Smart Keyboard costs around R $ 950 and the Apple Pencil R $ 760.

Inch quantity

One aspect that changes from one iPad model to another is the size of the screen, measured in inches. The iPad Mini 4 is the most compact model and features a 7.9 inch screen.

The conventional iPad is slightly larger, at 9.7 inches. The iPad Pro is available in three sizes 10.5, 11 and 12.9 inches.

When choosing your own, take into account the maneuverability of each one. The larger models are not so simple to handle, for this reason Apple offers keyboard and pen (sold separately), to facilitate the use of the device.

In general, the smaller models are suitable for those who use the iPad for leisure and study and the versions of the Pro line for those who use the equipment for work.

Platform (operating system)

Apple iPads come with iOS operating system, which stands out in several features:

• It is the most advanced, beautiful and easy to use interface;
• IOS allows you to use different apps in a simple way and gives smart suggestions when you need them;
• Advanced technology protects your privacy and keeps your data safe.

IOS was developed for Multi-Touch interactions, that is, everything is within reach of a touch, from opening applications, viewing your appointments (just slide to the right) and browsing thousands of files in a few seconds.

The operating system is very productive and agile, for example: the Archives app gathers all your documents (photos, videos, music, notes, etc.) in one place. The Dock helps you find your favorite applications, or those you have recently opened.

You can also browse multiple applications at the same time, using the Multitasking feature. And if you need, access the Siri virtual assistant, activated by the voice command: “Hey, Siri”.

IOS comes with some apps developed by Apple, and in the App Store you can find millions of other apps for carrying out countless activities, all of which are very intuitive (simple to handle) and rich in details.

Storage

You can find iPad models with different storage capacities. The simplest version has 32 GB of memory (conventional iPad). The Mini 4 model is mini only in name, as it has a capacity of 128 GB.

The 10.5-inch Pro model can be found in versions with 64, 256 or 512 GB and the 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro are found in those same versions and with a maximum storage capacity of 1TB.

Quality of cameras

Any iPad model has two cameras, the front and the rear. The quality between them changes both in the device itself (the front is always inferior), and from one model to the other.

On the iPad and iPad Mini 4 models the front camera has only 1.2 MP of resolution and 8 MP on the rear camera. The videos are made in HD (1080p). The quality changes a lot in the iPad Pro models. On both devices, the front camera has 7 MP, the rear camera has 12 MP and the videos are filmed in Ultra HD (4K) quality.

On iPad Pro models, the front camera has another difference: FaceTime HD feature on the 10.5 inch model, and TrueDepth on the 11 and 12.9 inch versions..

TrueDepth is the technology used in facial recognition, indispensable for the functioning of Face ID, Animoji and Memoji. The technology has a series of sensors, which allow facial reading even if the environment is in low light.

This feature works based on a set of components connected to the front camera, such as an infrared camera that reads more than 30 thousand dots to recognize the user’s face, a light emitter to detect the user’s face even in the dark and a dot projector.

FaceTime HD is the integrated front camera, located on the top of the iPad. It is triggered automatically when you open an application to take photos, film, make video calls or make phone calls.

Colors

You can find iPads in four color options: silver, space gray, gold and rose gold, but not all models have all these color options.

• Silver : All models are available in this shade;
• Space Gray : All models are available in this color;
• Gold : 10.5-inch iPad Pro, iPad and iPad Mini 4;
• Rose gold : 10.5-inch iPad Pro only.

Accessories

Apple iPads allow the use of two very interesting accessories, the Smart Keyboard Folio (only for the iPad Pro line) and Apple Pencil. Let’s talk a little more about them below:

The Smart Keyboard Folio is a complete and removable keyboard developed especially for the iPad Pro versions. The most interesting thing is that it fits magnetically on the back of the device.

When the device is not in use, the Smart Keyboard Folio acts as a case and protects the front and back of the device. The best thing is that this keyboard, besides dispensing wires or other types of connections (uses only magnets), does not work on batteries or batteries.

Apple Pencil is a very cool accessory, as it allows you to draw, write or sign digital documents with a real object. Apple Pencil is pencil, pen, highlighter and eraser at the same time and you change tools with two taps.
